About Rainer
Rainer Beilharz began his violinmaking career in 1982 at 18 years of age in Melbourne, Australia. Rainer has worked extensively in all aspects of violin making including restoration, repair and bow making as well as new making and has a deep knowledge and understanding of the violin. He is now one of the most sought after violin makers in the country with instruments played worldwide.
Significant milestones include:
-Seven years working in Germany, including two years with Bernhard Franke, and three with Antoine Muller in Stuttgart.
-Gesellenprüfung, Markneukirchen 1993
-Geigenbaumeister, Distinction, Mittenwald 1996
-Return to Australia as full time maker of new instruments, 1997
-Co-organiser of the groundbreaking Violin makers conferences in Guildford in 2003, 2006 and 2012.
-Participation in the Oberlin violin making workshops, USA, since 2007.
-Member of the Entente Internationale des Luthiers et Archetiers since 2010
-Member of the Australian Violin Makers Association.
Rainers work has received the highest accolades internationally.
His awards include three certificates of merit and a total of four silver medals at the VSA competitions in the USA since 2012.
