Many of the famous 19th century
copyists such as Chanot and Lott had a very stylised way of antiquing.
I use similar techniques when I make copies such as this Stradivari
model and Guarneri Cannon copy below.
I aim to use the antiqued look as a stylistic device, rather than
making something indistinguishable from the original.
